Rafts are made of bamboo and launched from a solid concrete pier. The size of the rafts vary are dispatched by a licensed dispatcher.

There is a legend about Martha Brae that tells of a witch that lived on the banks of the River Matibereon. Spanish seamen hunting for treasure captured the witch believing she would lead them to fortune and riches. The foxy old witch lead them into an cave and then disappeared. When they ran out of the cave the river swallowed them. The witch has changed the course of the river.
